Monthly collections
APRIL 2017
This month I concentrated on an enormous commission Dorset artist Alison C. Board and I began in March. Here are a couple of close-up photographs taken whilst weaving.
After completing the commission I had some silk left over, and so I created some new reversible scarves with a different, vibrant colour on each side.
MARCH 2017
I have been collaborating with Dorset Artist and good friend Alison C. Board (www.alisoncboard-finart.co.uk), adding to our ever-growing range of woven paintings. We have worked together for a few years now after I invented a way of weaving strips of paper together. All the silk I use is hand-dyed, giving me complete control over the colour ways.
I had some silks left over and I used them to create a couple of scarves. I particularly enjoyed weaving this pastel colour way.
Finally here’s a first glimpse at a large commission Alison C. Board and I are working on together. The painting and collage is complete and I now need to cut it up and weave it back together. If you’re interested in a commission please email me via debbykirbysilk@gmail.com.
FEBRUARY 2017
I took a trip to Northumberland, which provided plenty of inspiration for a new collection of scarves. The colours I found there were fresh and muted, the perfect palette for the start of spring.
I have also woven some more complicated, mathematical patterns, inspired by architecture.
